Services

These are just some of the services I offer. If there is another way I can support your spiritual journey, let me know!

Spiritual Direction

I offer one-on-one spiritual direction to both clergy (including seminarians) and lay people primarily via Zoom. If you are in the Chicago area it may be possible to meet in person. I am also happy to have an initial meeting in person and then move online for ongoing spiritual direction.

Spiritual direction sessions are one hour long. This time is set aside just for you so I can be attentive and fully present. It is important you also set aside a time when you will have privacy and can speak freely.

Spiritual direction is unique to each seeker, but there are a few things most sessions have in common. To begin, I will typically invite you to take some deep breaths with me to help release any distractions and center ourselves. I may light a candle. I may share a reading or prayer if appropriate. Once the session is underway, I will simply listen as you share what arises within your heart. I may listen through silence or with words. I will occasionally suggest practices to engage in between sessions or even during a session. The hope is to help you hear the spirit stirring within so you may respond in ways that lead to peace and joy.

Spiritual direction is $80/session. The first meeting is free, and discounted rates are available based on need. Schedule your first session online now.

Workshops

I love offering workshops where participants get to ask hard questions, wrestle with answers, and learn more than expected without being "taught." Although workshops depend on participation, please know I empathize with and welcome introverts as well as people who are shy or apprehensive. Most workshops include time for self-reflection, sharing with others, and active learning.

Some of my favorite topics are prayer (what it is, how to do it, its challenges, and more), faith-sharing, spiritual journeys, stewardship, Sabbath, faith and grief, and discernment.

I regularly offer workshops in person and online. Cost depends on the amount of time required to prepare and present the workshop. You can learn more and register by viewing my upcoming events.

I can also facilitate workshops designed just for your group or organization. Workshops can be offered for groups of any size. If you are located outside of the Chicago area, my fee will include travel expenses. I am happy to adapt existing workshops or develop something new that meets your specific needs. Please contact me to learn more.

Retreats and Speaking

Check back soon for more information about retreats I will be offering later in spring 2025.

If you are planning a retreat or other event, I am available to speak on many topics such as God's presence with me in the wilderness, surviving abusive relationships, the role of Sabbath in my life, God's love in the midst of grief, sharing one's faith, and more. In most cases, I can also speak on scripture or the theme of your choice. As a guest speaker, I am happy to facilitate activities and discussion. I can also create worship and devotional materials for your retreat.

Consulting and Writing

Church pastors, staff, lay leaders, and entire congregations can often benefit from an outside perspective. I am happy to provide consulting for a specific project or around a topic. I also provide various trainings.

With a degree in theater, I have sought ways to integrate faith and drama for the past twenty-five years. I have short scripts appropriate for use in worship available to license and am happy to write new scripts to meet your needs.

I can guide your congregation through the process of writing a devotional book. I also offer other writing services to enrich your worship or enhance communications.

Copyediting

I offer copyediting and related services on a case-by-case basis. If you are working with a publisher who requires or permits you to obtain copyediting services at your own expense, if you are self-publishing, or if you need copyediting of an article or chapter, I offer competitive rates and will work with you to ensure you feel confident you are submitting the best possible version of your manuscript. I can also provide more comprehensive editing if desired.

I have experience and enjoy working on spiritual/religious nonfiction that could be categorized as: spiritual growth, inspirational, devotional, academic, church history, pastoral care, memoir, commentary, and theology. I also provide copyediting of nonreligious manuscripts so long as the subject matter is sufficiently general or within my areas of knowledge.

I provide copyediting pursuant to the Chicago Manual of Style. I am happy to adhere to publishers' internal style guides. However, if your publisher uses AP or APA style, I am not sufficiently familiar with them to provide the quality of copyediting you deserve. I provide other editing services regardless of style guide.

Other Services

I offer a variety of spiritual growth-related services. Most are available in-person or via Zoom. Some of my favorite topics are prayer, spiritual practices, Sabbath, stewardship, sacred storytelling, contemplation, vocation, and faith-sharing. I also enjoy helping people communicate more effectively, learn group facilitation skills, and practice holy listening. Small groups are central to my faith life and I would love to help your community start or strengthen small groups.

I am happy to customize offerings to meet your needs. If there is a service you are interested that is not listed, please contact me to discuss whether it is something I offer or if I could provide a referral.
